With over 29 years’ experience as a barrister, Norman Sheridan is the sole practitioner at Sheridan Chambers.

Since 1998 he has specialised in EU and international environmental law and policy. He has worked in all 13 EU new Member States assisting them in their task of preparing for EU accession in the environment sector, through harmonisation / approximation studies across the whole of the EU environmental acquis, and drafting new / amendments to environmental laws and secondary legislation. He has also worked in most of the current candidate / accession countries on similar projects.

Norman has worked in Russia and CIS countries assisting in harmonisation with the EU environmental acquis. He has also worked on projects in south-east Asia and the Pacific region on developing legislation in alignment with international best practices in the environment.

Norman Sheridan

Born in Malta, Norman previously lived in the USA and currently resides in the UK, where he trained in law.

Before becoming a lawyer, Norman was a research biochemist for many years, and still draws on his scientific background today. His experience provides him with a greater understanding required for some of the complex and technical issues raised in environmental protection.

Importantly, Norman holds an Irish passport, securing his EU citizen status post-Brexit.
